THREATS POSED BY AI IN EDUCATION

 The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has its own benefits but also poses a threat to the human life, though today we are going to look at it's threats in the education sector. First off what is Artificial intelligence?Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science dedicated to creating computers and programs that can replicate human thinking. This computer programs can perform day to day tasks that human being perform. 


AI has various advantages in education, like personalized learning, Efficiency during grading and data analysis, immerse learning experiences with the use of virtual reality (VR) and argument reality (AR) but through all this it poses threats in the education sector.

Before invention of AI students used to do their own research, work on their assignments using their own brains but since the rise of AI most students have become lazy, AI has increasingly declined critical thinking skills in students, they just type the questions and AI provides answers, most students can't think out of the box they over rely the help of AI in everything they do.

Also AI has increasingly support cheating among students, they carry phones to exam rooms use chat GPT to get answers for the questions in their exams or when tackling their take away assignments. Even though AI has programs that can detect AI writing but also they can falsely identify students original work as plagiarism.

AI has also lead to reduced student interaction, not only student to student interaction but also teacher - student interaction. Students no longer ask teachers questions simply because of AI, every question they have AI answers. Discussion among students to exchange ideas has become extinct due to the rise of AI. Many students engage with chat GPT more than others, they are always on their phones or laptops.

Some programs of AI are not accurate, the answers and content they provide have errors, or do not match with the Kenyan curriculum therefore misleading many students and if the programs are not updated or corrected the mistakes keep reoccurring over time. This can be very disadvantageous to students who over rely the use of Chat GPT or other AI programs 


As AI takes over, some students who cannot afford gadgets and internet are disadvantaged because they cannot use AI therefore making some students more privileged than them, especially in local areas and remote places.

Job displacements, as we continue to embrace AI, teachers and even lecturers at risk because it seems AI is replacing them, students can learn and read by themselves through AI programs all they need is a gadget or a machine with internet and they can cover an entire topic by themselves

In conclusion as AI becomes part of us in our day to day activities. We should also not forget the threats it poses in education and other sectors and better ways to correct this.

    Wonderful, you're absolutely right irresponsible use of this computer technologies is destroying creativity, Ai is a powerful tool, if well utilized it can do us good. This is an eye opener indeed.

    It's a matter to be highly talked about. We tend to rely so much on the assistance of AI particularly college and university students. Let's embrace individual intelligence with only AI mending or polishing potential mistakes.
